These 53 photos are part of a study of the different ways to create images
in a single location, in this case the peristyle of the Brussels Palace of Justice,
a semiopen urban space. How can a photographer always use the same space
to compose his images? And how can he keep his concentration on his basic
concept for so long? In this case, Kim Zwarts managed it by treating
this exercise as a study, with a desire to create a self-sufficient complete creation,
rather than a mere series of photos. “Palais” is a work that allows us to see the peristyle in the context of constant movement, with the presence and absence of the people who inhabit it.
